I have been challenged by a friend to start a blog about things that inspire, and I have only been working on this for two days and am already really enjoying it ! Spring is here, beautiful sunfilled days, almost time for flip flops! I am so grateful to be living so close to a magnificent beach, and have spent the last three days visiting there, feeling the sun on my face, bravely taking off my shoes to feel the sand between my toes and trying to paddle in the sea but unfortunately it is still a little too cold !!! The blossom trees and sunshine have inspired me today to create some pretty bags.

End of Half Term !

Last day of the half term and with the weather as rainy as ever, we decided to do our usual rainy day thing and take a drive to the beach, sit in the car eating fish and chips, radio playing, watching the waves and longing for a beautiful sunny, summer's day ! Today, we did manage to have a very quick play on the beach, wrapped up in waterproofs and wellies and I do have to admit that I do love the rain, I love to feel the rain on my face and I love to play and walk in the rain - as long as we can have a lovely long soak in the bath when we get home !! And of course a lovely cup of tea and biscuits by the fire afterwards !

I really cannot believe how fast time is flying !! My little darling was two on Saturday!! I am feeling rather broody, Mollie is at that beautiful age, making me smile all the time and it makes me a little sad inside, wanting to keep the childen close to me and my heart for as long as possible. Oliver will be 12 next month and Katie will be 6 and I have to say, when I am out with all my three children, I burst with pride!! Anyway, we held a mini tea party for Mollie :-

... I am sure many would be horrified at the lack of healthy food, and the amount of pure sugar, food colourings AND mini cans of coke !! But the kids loved it, and I know, as a kid, I loved the parties with hideous amounts of sweets and cakes!!

I don't know about you, but I'd much rather drink from a proper coffee cup even when out and about, so when I saw this porcelain, reusable ‘cup to go’ in Lakeland yesterday, I had to buy it!!! It keeps your drink warm but stays cool to the touch, and the fitted silicone lids prevents spills and leaks!! Great for my morning school run - I can just picture Louise and Lian taking the "P" out of me !!!!!!!!!!!

Back to reality today - everything returning to the usual routine !! Katie, although excited to see her friends, was sad about leaving me at home, so we came up with a cunning little plan so that we could somehow be together - her "worry dolls"!

I bought these for Katie a long time ago, before Mollie was born, but funnily enough, they made a family of five, Mummy, Daddy, two girls and a boy!!We decided Katie would sneak Mummy doll to school, tucked in her pocket, close to her, and I would keep Katie doll on me, close to my heart!! Katie went to school with only eagerness and excitement at seeing her friends xx

I remember seeing somewhere a beautiful Swedish Snow Lantern (I nearly described it to my friend as Swedish House Mafia !!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and have been dying to make one !!! My poor babies have all been so ill this week, and at last the snow reached our part of the world, and they could only watch it from the window ! Today, they came outside with me for about 10 minutes, and we began to build the snow lantern. They got fed up, and like the child that I am, I carried on making it!! I then couldnt wait for darkness to fall so we could put a candle inside - it looked wonderful!! And it burned for a long, long time, I was very impressed.

I have just bought Katie (or should I say Santa has !!!!) the most gorgeous, soft, cuddly doll called "Maria"!! She is so cute and irresistible - wish I was a child again !!! She comes from a company called Ruben's Barn Dolls - I bought her in a lovely toy shop nearby - a company based in Sweden. There are many dolls in the collection, very multi-cultural, and they all have their own little story. Katie's "maria" has a mother from South American and a Spanish father !!!!! Hope she likes this doll as much as I do!!!

I have just had a lovely weekend, nothing special to report, spent Saturday with my sister and her family, walking on the cold beach, kids playing as if there is no tomorrow, house completely wrecked by their game of hide and seek and today, kids party, getting orders made up, cooking a roast beef dinner, mind whirling with thoughts of new designs, warm and cosy Sunday afternoon, and then at dinner it happened, we had all finished eating, a song came on the radio and the girls (including me!!) were singing their hearts out, the boys were laughing and it was such a wonderful (corny though it may sound) moment, felt such warmth around the dinner table with my family and I wished that feeling could be bottled up and remembered. As with all families I am sure, there are plenty of moments like that, simple daily family moments, and that feeling is so overwhelmingly great, we just want to keep it close to our hearts. There, I have said my bit, and am now ready to end the fantastic weekend with this ..... delicious !!!

Am I getting old???? I was so excited to receive my new Cath Kidston sewing box, and took great pleasure in organising my bits and pieces in it!!!! And, whilst walking with the kids, I was thinking of how it could be passed down to my girls!!! Now I really feel I have reached that older stage in life, and the days when I used to party ALL NIGHT LONG are well and truly something of a distant memory!!!! But please believe me when I say this is not a complaint, I love my life now, getting excited about cosy nights in with the children, dressing the christmas tree, and that beautiful glass of wine - what more could this ex-London girl ask for !!!!

I have fond memories of baking with my mum when I was growing up, so try and do it as often as possible with Katie and Oliver. I have to confess though, that I find it very difficult letting them do as they please with the decorating of cakes and biscuits!!!!!!!! I am currently living with my clan in a two bedroom house and I am desperately saving for a larger home. Four bedrooms would be great - mine, Ol's, and the girls would have a room each, and the fourth bedroom could be "my space" for funky rascals. But, in the meantime, I have had to radically rearrange my little house. My Space consists of a large bookshelf, which works well for the time being, I have partitioned the kids room and have totally de-cluttered my bedroom! My tips for living in small spaces - ORGANISATION and total DE-CLUTTER!! It works!

Living out in the sticks never ceases to amaze me!!!!!!! I live close by to hundreds of farms, one of which sells the most amazing free range eggs! What is even more surprising is that you can just pull in, pick your eggs and leave the money in a pot!!!! How very trusting is that?? And, me, a city-girl born and bred, finds this so very refreshing, knowing that would NEVER EVER happen in my gorgeous hometown of London!!!!
